Pattrica Garcia better known as Patty cakes is a self motivated creative individual and also a proud mother. While growing up in Baldwin Park CA, Patty always had a drive and passion for art. At a young age she was inspired by Pablo Picasso and Jim Henson, by age 14 she became a student at Art Instruction Schools which was a home school style course. At age 16 she began taking sewing classes and enjoyed reconstructing clothing and designing/constructing hand bags she was recognized throughout middle school and high school for her creative abilities but did not take her talents serious until after graduating high school when she found comfort in her creative outlets to help her get through hard times. Having to live on her own and support herself since age 18 really taught her a huge life lesson and she has been a hard working woman ever since. At age 21 Patty Founded CAKE$ which started out as a T-shirt line and then transformed into a one woman show. She has used CAKE$ as a brand for her projects whether it be Art related or Fashion. One week after giving birth to her first child Zion Elijah Garcia, Patty organized and hosted her first Art show/Hand bag and t-shirt release party. This was a major accomplishment in her career and the starting point of many great things to come. From her art show she went on to vending at various Events and clubs in LA and soon caught the attention of writers at Citizens LA and was interviewed and featured in an article with Collective Souls, a creative group of LA up and comers. At age 23 she became pregnant with her second child and had the urge to go back to school. Three months after giving birth to daughter Marley kaya Garcia, Patty enrolled in a local cosmetology course and soon after fell in love with the beauty industry. When it came time to learn nail care and nail art she was completely captivated and quickly excelled, applying her creative ability and knowledge of techniques learned from years of experience. She looked at a blank nail bed as a tiny canvas with endless possibilities. Patty began practicing designs daily and has since caught the attention of OPI and was featured in Nicole by OPI’s life in lacquer blog. She was also interviewed by Women’s Wear Daily shortly after and was featured on the IT list of the country’s hottest nail artists. The young artist recently made the big decision to hold off on the cosmetology program to follow her passion and has enrolled in a manicurist program. There is nothing but good things in store for this multi-talented young lady and it is quite clear that with whatever comes next she will put forth 100% hard work and dedication.
